NMFC Changes Effective August 7, 2021

On July 8, 2021, the Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) issued Supplement 2 to NMF 100-AU.  The National Motor Freight Classification   (NMFC  ) class code changes will go into effect on August 7, 2021.

While a few changes are noted below, please review the list linked above to be aware of all changes and updates. 

  • Machinery NOI or Machinery or Machine parts NOI, #133000: Currently, six classes based on package and density (250, 175, 110, 92.5, 70 and 60); will expand to eight classes based on package and density (400, 250, 175, 125, 100, 85, 77.5 and 65)
  • Cereals Items Canceled: A new NMFC #72310 will be introduced to replace 42300, 42310, 42315, 42318, 42320, 42330, 42350, 42380, 42390, 42410 and 42436
  • Cereals, NMFC #72310 (New): Will have three density-based classes: 70, 100 and 150
  • Flag Poles and Parts Canceled: A new NMFC #160420 will be introduced to replace 22060, 69990, 70000, 70010 and 94880
  • Poles, Staffs or Sticks, Flag or Sections, Flag Poles, Staff or Stick Bases, Holders or Stands, NMFC #160420 (New): Will have twelve classes based on the greatest dimension and density
  • Spool Items Canceled: A new spool item, #177400, will be introduced to replace 177430, 177450, 177470, 177500, 177520, 177540, 177560, 177580 177600, 177620 and 177640
  • Spools, NMFC #177400 (New): Will have eleven density-based classes
  • Gratings or Foot Walks, NMFC #13490: Canceled and replaced with new item #13450
  • Aluminum Footwalks, Walkways or Gratings, NMFC #13450 (New): Will have twelve classes based on greatest dimension and density
