NMFC Changes Effective December 17, 2022

On November 17, 2022, the Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) issued Supplement 4 to NMF 100-AV. The National Motor Freight Classification® (NMFC®) class code changes will go into effect on December 17, 2022.

While a few of the changes are noted below, be sure to review the complete list linked above to be aware of all changes and updates.

Chemicals Grouping. Many item #s are being cancelled and will point to a replacement NMFC #.

Cloth, Fabric, Dry Goods or Textiles. Many item #s are being cancelled (including current NMFC # 49390) and will point to new NMFC # 49260 .

NMFC # 49260, New. Cloth, Fabric, Dry Goods or Textiles, NOI.  Eleven density-based subs/classes.

Furniture Group. Many item #s are being cancelled and will point to NMFC # 82270, furniture NOI, which will now list headboards, footboards, beds or cots with other current listed items

Duct or Flues, NMFC #51045. Will be condensed from current 6 classes (70, 77.5, 175, 200, 300 & 400) to 4 classes (175, 200, 300 and 400).

Foodstuff, Flour Commodities. Many item #s are being cancelled and will point to new NMFC # 73150 .

NMFC #73150, New. Flour or Meal, NOI and Mixes.  Will have 4 density-based classes (55, 70, 85 and 125).

NMFC# 61110, Cabinets, Enclosures, Frames, Housings or Racks (Electrical Equipment). Currently two density-based classes (100 and 150), will change to 6 classes (85,100,125,175, 200 and 300)

Abrasives Group. Many item #s are being cancelled, including NMFC #1020 and will point to NMFC # 1050, Abrasives which has 11 density subs/classes.

Baskets Group. Many item #s are being cancelled and will point to NMFC # 22260, baskets noi, which has 11 density subs/classes.

Yarn Group. Many item #s are being cancelled and will point to a new NMFC # Yarn NOI, NMFC # 200420.
