On March 9th, 2023, the Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) issued Supplement 1 to NMF 100-AW. The National Motor Freight Classification ® (NMFC®) class code changes will go into effect on April 8, 2023.
While a few of the changes are noted below, be sure to review the complete list linked above to be aware of all changes and updates.
Cabinets Numerous cabinet items are being cancelled, and unless otherwise specified, refer to new item # 39495. Refer to notice of disposition for items.
Castings The NMFC #s for aluminum, brass/bronze/copper blanks, castings and stampings will be cancelled and will now refer to NMFC #13120 aluminum articles or NMFC #30160, brass/bronze or copper articles. Both have 11 density-based classes.
Chemicals NOI NMFC #43940, subs/class currently defined by packaging will amended by assigning classes predicated on density, Three density-based classes.
Dental, Hospital or Medical Supply Group Numerous items in this grouping are being cancelled and will refer to: new items 56570, 56590, 56830 or 56930, or existing item 188560. Refer to notice of disposition for items.
Foodstuff Desserts/toppings, pasta, noodles, rice, cooked, dried or powdered potato items, prepared foods, soup and soup mix item are being cancelled and will refer to existing NMFC #73260, Foodstuff, eleven density-based classes. Refer to notice of disposition for items
Furniture or Furniture Parts Numerous items are being canceled with reference to new item #79300, or existing items 164390 and 178690. Refer to notice of disposition for items. Eleven density-based classes.
Pipe or Tubing Numerous metal pipe, tubing or pipe tubing fittings items, including NMFC #52190, are being cancelled, and unless otherwise specified, refer to new item # 52200. Refer to notice of disposition for items.
NMFC #52250, pipe, tubing or pipe fittings, plastic, resin cancelled and refers to 156600, plastic articles.
Plastic or Rubber Articles Group Numerous plastic/rubber items are being cancelled, and unless otherwise specified, will refer to existing NMFC #156600 (eleven density-based classes) which now applies on plastic or rubber whether or not of foam, cellular, expanded or sponge construction. Refer to notice of disposition for items.
Sugar Numerous sugar items are being cancelled, and unless otherwise specified, will refer to existing NMFC #73150 (four density-based classes). Refer to notice of disposition for items.
