The challenge

A major passenger airline encountered an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situation in Colombia, requiring urgent international transport of a large engine. With the aircraft grounded, every moment of downtime could significantly impact the airline’s service reliability.

The solution

Ascent quickly sourced a B747-400BCF wide body aircraft to transport the engine from Toronto to Colombia. With the engine’s substantial weight—over 8,000 KG—and a tight clearance of under 1/4” at the main cargo door, we took precise measurements and carefully planned every detail to load the engine successfully.

 

Our team coordinated with customs and airport authorities to secure necessary permits and arrange specialized ground handling for safe loading and unloading. Within less than 8 hours of departure, the engine and essential equipment arrived airside, ready for the maintenance team to restore the aircraft to service.

The engine was delivered promptly, bringing the aircraft back to service without further delay.
